A wave of excitement washed over Kingfisher this week as our pupils and staff attended a ceremony to accept the highly coveted Green School Award, a prestigious recognition of the school’s dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability.
The award ceremony, held at the impressive Ashford International Hotel celebrated the achievements of young people and educators who are driving real, positive change for the planet.
Members of the school’s thriving young gardeners Field to Fork club were on hand to accept the honour. The award acknowledges the school’s exceptional commitment to integrating sustainable practices into both the curriculum and daily operations.
The event itself was a vibrant display of environmental innovation. Prior to the formal presentation, Kingfisher participated in a ‘Show and Share’ session, exhibiting their successful initiatives. The opportunity allowed students to interact with judges, sponsors, and peers from other winning schools, fostering collaboration and sharing creative solutions.
The Green School Award serves as a powerful motivator for the school’s future sustainability goals. Kingfisher is now focused on building on this success in the coming year.
The recognition solidifies Kingfisher’s position as a leader in environmental education, nurturing a generation of students who are not just learning about sustainability, but actively living it.
