This week, Year 5 students took an exciting journey back in time during their visit to the Natural History Museum. From exploring the Jurassic gardens to diving deep into the mysteries of our planet, it was a day full of wonder, learning, and hands-on experiences.

Our adventure began in the museum’s Jurassic gardens, where the children marveled at life-sized dinosaur models and learned about the incredible creatures that roamed the Earth millions of years ago. This was just the start, as we then headed inside to view the awe-inspiring skeletons of some of our most famous prehistoric ancestors – the dinosaurs!

After being amazed by the giants of the past, we explored the “From the Beginning” exhibit. Here, we learned more about the formation of Earth and its place in the vastness of space. One of the highlights was studying tectonic plates and discovering how their shifting can cause earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The students even experienced a simulated earthquake, allowing them to feel what it would be like to live through one!

To top off an already thrilling day, we were fortunate to take part in a special science workshop. During this session, students got to see real-life demonstrations of how volcanoes erupt, how earthquakes shake the ground, and how lava slowly creeps across the landscape. It was a hands-on learning experience that left everyone fascinated.

Our trip to the Natural History Museum was not only educational but also a lot of fun! Year 5 left with a deeper understanding of the Earth’s history, its natural forces, and the incredible science that shapes the world around us.
